In the world of Varsity sports, it is hard for members of the Freshmen class to make their High Schools Varsity team. AZU 15 VB Rags Premier players Ali Mayer and Taylor Yantis of Paradise Valley High School are two players that were not only able to make the Varsity team, but were huge factors in the type of winning volleyball the Lady Trojans were able to accomplish.

Prepvolleyball.com, (a great website for Junior Volleyball), creates a list of top Varsity High School performers across the nation. With rankings in each class, the Freshmen class is always the smallest as so few Freshmen make, or have an impact on their Varsity team. Taylor and Ali were listed in the Frosh 59 Special Mention group. The list ranks the groups in the following categories: The Frosh 59 (59 players), Highest Honorable Mention(43 players), Special Mention (46 players), and Honorable Mention(22 players).

Congratulations girls, I am very proud of you both. -Coach Evan Sedillo

Ali Mayer, 5-9 MB/S, Paradise Valley (Phoenix, Arizona) – Coach Evan Sedillo said, "Mayer was asked to do the most for me this season and got the job done. Whether as a middle, as a middle in the front row who raced pin to pin and as a ack row setter who used her vast volleyball knowledge to find the right hitter." Mayer finished the year with more than 200 assists, 100 kills and 35 aces.

Taylor Yantis, 5-6 OH, Paradise Valley (Phoenix, Arizona) – Yantis had almost 170 kills as the Outside Hitter at Paradise Valley, a team that reached the playoffs for the first time in at least eight years. She also is very strong defender who amassed more than 400 digs.
